Team CPC Participates in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

By Lynn Cooper CPC President

Pennies for Pain successfully launched on September 27, 2009 when 23 runners/walkers and three cheer team members participated at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (full, half, and 5 km). The weather was perfect, the crowds and cheering were fantastic, the energy was uplifting and fun and the commitment to personal excellence in sport was intense. It was a thrilling experience for me to cross the finish line at 11:17 a.m. after walking the half (21k) with a personal best time, knowing that I and my teammates had raised money to support CPC. It meant a great deal to be greeted at the finish by our cheer team. While we were on the course they had been busy distributing information about Pennies for Pain to the crowds.

We greatly appreciate the efforts of the individuals and teams from Purdue and Thornley Fallis Communications who walked, ran, and cheered for Pennies for Pain. Visit www.canadianpaincoalition.ca for more pictures and stories. Think about joining us next year for a fun morning. Sandra Gartz and Lynn Cooper, campaign organizers, thank our teammates, sponsors and donors for getting Pennies for Pain off to a running start!
